Match notes....last year, Brands had Lofthouse keep his arm (opposite of Ruths position on top) back ... therefore, Ruth couldn't get his crossface cradle. If this happens again, here's to hoping Ruth begins a takedown clinic. Another "Feature Matchup" should be when Brands gets a warning! I'm saying during the Taylor/Evans match St. John vs Alton should be worth price of admission. Telford hasn't been wrestling well....should Iowa put in Raising (sp?)? McIntosh beginning to look like he's slowing down a bit....first year burnout? I'm guessing he gets fired up again for an Iowa match and beats Gambrall who is not doing near as well at 197. Unfortunately, Evans looks to be the real deal. He seems to have freakish strength and will shoot...often. Penn State Lightweights really need to keep it within 12!

On paper, this match should not be that close.

Even if the Lions lose all three of the lightweight bouts by Tech (I cannot see this ever happening, because Megaludis is a real goer; and Martelloti and Pearsall generally have more heart than that) Penn State should still win. I say that becasue the only other bout that Iowa could win is at 157, if St John wrestles. Penn State should win the other 6 bouts, with a couple of bonus points of their own. Then again, this is Iowa...

133 - Ramos made a statement last season wearing Long out, and then this season with his signature win over Oliver. I could see Ramos at the end pushing for a bonus point but I believe Frank loses a regular decision. PSU 0 Iowa 6.

141 This match causes me concern. I can see this being anything from a reg decision loss to a loss via fall. About the only thing I don't see as a possibility is a tech fall. I am going with a loss by 8 or more points. (Marion 12 Pearshall 3) PSU 0 Iowa 10.

149 I know we are hoping for a bonus win here, but Iowa gives up bonus points very begrudgingly. I believe Frank will be pushing hard for the major, but a 7 point victory is what we are going to get. PSU 3 Iowa 10.

157 I would really like to see Dylan get this one, but if he is wrestling St John I don't see it happening. Despite St John being ot of the lineup for a while, I believe the difference here will be Dylan not finishing a couple of shots and St John's conditioning being superior. PSU 3 Iowa 13.

174 Iowa will do whatever they need to do to slow this match down hoping to a) - not give up any bonus points and b) - see if they can steal a match at the end. I suppose Iowa could slow things down, but from what I have seen from Rd Ruuuth - what Iowa wants to accomplsih will have no impact on the match. A major. PSU 12 Iowa 13.

184 - I am hoping Wagner shows up with every intention of going with Quentin. Wagner has a tendency to roll around a bit which could mean a QW fall. PSU 18 Iowa 13.

i would have agreed with you until i saw the results from last night's match against ohio state. i think that alton can and will beat st. john and i think that mcintosh will beat gambrall. i am officially switching my earlier prediction.
