Nazareth 37 v Parkland 20

Postby The Doc » Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:36 pm

In what promised to be a tough match of traditional D11 powers, both of whom graduated significant team members from last year's successful squads, and for what will likely turn out to be important Team Dual seeding in February, Nazareth (2-0) visited Parkland's (3-1) gym last night.

The match was never in doubt, opening at 130 with Horan...
3 strongly bouts favored Parkland, and accounted for 3 wins - 2 Majors and a Pin.
1 bout favored Parkland, for a W and a Pin.
3 bouts favored Nazareth, and accounted for 3 Ws - 1 M, 1 Fall and 1 red dec.
8 toss-ups ALL went Nazareth's way....

Refs: Barry Ruht, Brandon Mihalko.
The usual good job - and GOOD stall calls early on to set the consistent pace.
I see the D11 Refs are again working closely together to emphasize the new start/restart rules on positioning - good move! Let's see the rest of the State follow suit.....

=======================

1) @ 215, T. Haddad (P) makes his first appearance in the Parkland line-up count, for a Major to narrow the gap at the time...

2) @103, Klump (Naz) is out with an injury. Tarsi (also a frosh) makes his first Varsity start. Tough day against Lizak....

3) @ 160, Krecker (Naz) and Ottinger (P) went to OT yet again... Krecker won on a STALL in Sudden Victory!

4) Both teams weighed in their 215/HWTs at 215.

5) Bouts @ 160 and 125 promised tough competition - a mostly defensive but even effort @ 160, but ALL Ferraina (Naz) after an interesting initial flurry. Fake (P) throws Ferraina to begin the period, for 2TD and 3NF in an odd scramble - was it even a TD? As he "escaped", Ferraina "reversed" for 2.... Ref discussion: Parkland's TD/3NF waved off... then Naz TD for 2, second period E and TD Naz, third period TD, E, TD Naz for the W.

6) Most of Parkland's TDs were concentrated at145 and 215, with single TD's elsewhere...
