FAIRFAX, VA-The Broncs went 1-1 at the Colonial Athletic Association Duals on Saturday, defeating host Mason while losing to nationally ranked Binghamton. "Everyone is battling hard," said Rider head coach Gary Taylor.

For the Broncs (6-7, 2-1 CAA) sophomore Evan Craig (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) and freshman Jimmy Morris (Northport, NY/St. Anthony's) won twice on Saturday.

"Evan wrestled two solid matches," Taylor said. "He looked good."

Against Mason (5-9, 0-2 CAA) the Broncs won eight of the 10 matches, with wins also coming from freshman Vinny Fava (Elmwood Park, N.J./Elmwood Park), freshman Conor Brennan (Brick, NJ/Brick Twp.), sophomore Ramon Santiago (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville), sophomore James Brundage (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining), junior Brandon Lintner (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Regional) and freshman Clint Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff).

That's four freshmen and three sophomores in those eight victories.

"Our young kids are wrestling well," Taylor said.

Against 24th ranked Binghamton (9-2, 2-0 CAA), sophomore Chuck Zeisloft (Woodbury Heights, N.J./Gateway) and freshman Donald McNeil (Plainville, Mass./Wyoming Seminary) also won.

Morris defeated the third ranked 133 in the CAA from Binghamton and McNeil defeated the third ranked 197 in the CAA.

"The wrestler from Binghamton that Jimmy beat (Patrick Hunter) was a Junior College national champion," Taylor said. "Jimmy just keeps getting better every week and he can still get a lot better between now and the end of the year. McNeil had a good day. He had a very good match against Bagna (Mendbagana Tovuujav of Mason, the second ranked 197 in the CAA) as well. This weekend will help him. He's getting some confidence back."

Even in defeat some of the Broncs had impressive bouts. "Ramon (Santiago) had a great match with Lister (Binghamton's Justin Lister, ranked seventh in the nation and first in the CAA) and Brundage did a pretty good job against Kaylor (Matt Kaylor of Binghamton, ranked 20th in the nation and third in the CAA). Those two seniors are two of their best wrestlers and are very experienced. Our guys competed hard."

Rider travels to Lancaster, PA to take on Sacred Heart and Franklin & Marshall at F&M Saturday, February 4. "Our hopes are to go out there and get some wins and get on a roll and then get our other wrestlers back as well," Taylor said.

The Broncs continue to compete without three of their top wrestlers, 12th ranked junior Jim Resnick (Media, Pa./Penncrest), junior Zac Cibula (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg Casco), the 2011 CAA Most Outstanding Wrestler, and senior Jimmy Kirchner (Somerville, N.J./Somerville), who has twice placed third in the CAA Championships.

"The guys out of the line up are battling hard to get healthy and get back into the line-up and the guys taking their place are battling hard to show what they can do," Taylor said.
