The Panthers of Sacramento City College started the BIG 8 Conference dual season with a big bang. SCC won every match in route to a 50-0 win over the visiting Shasta College Knights.

SCC is the 4 time defending BIG 8 Conference Champs and seek to get a fifth. Everyone on the team contributed in the matches which shows the depth of the team.

The meet started at 165 pounds where #2 State Ranked Dyllan Forzani (Salinas HS - Soph) scored two takedowns in the first period and rode that to a major decision to win by a score of 18-4 over Jamal Halverson.

Not to be outdone, Trevor Wright (Winters HS - FR) and also ranked #2 in the state scored a quick takedown and 4 point near-fall before finishing the match with a fall in just 36 seconds.

Robbie Nickerson (Franklin HS - FR) was up next as did the other two, scored the first takedown. He went on to score another takedown, an escape and riding time for a 6-2 decision.

Jason Zecchini (Mt. Whitney HS -Soph) scored 3 takedowns in the first two periods, but a reversal to the back in the final round ended with a Fall in 5:18 and another Panther win.

After a forfeit at 285 to the Panthers D'Juan Ewing- Smalls (McClatchy HS - Soph), Christian Carbajal (Lahaina HS, HI - Soph) scored the first takedown and 3 takedowns over all to gain a hard fought 8-5 win at 125.

Shasta once again forfeited at 133, this time to Issac Pilgrim (Edison HS - Soph). Next up was Antonio Jimenez (Franklin HS - FR) at 141. Jimenez scored 2 takedowns and a 4 point near fall before gaining a fall in 2:41 of the first period.

The last match of the night was Hunter Minton (Sutter HS - FR) as Shasta also forfeited at 157 to Chris Vaughan (McClatchy HS - Soph). Minton kept the Panthers perfect on first takedowns by getting one in the first period to go with two 2 point near falls. Minton kept the pressure on throughout and came away with a 15 – 3 major decision.

The Panthers travel to Sierra College twice in the next week. First, they will head there on Saturday, October 17 for the North Dual Championships. They then return there on Wednesday, October 21 for the second conference dual meet of the season.
