City League Weekly Summary
1-11-14

As we near the final regular season District 8 matches, the seeding landscape is starting to shape up. There are some interesting match-ups next week - one of which will determine the #1 seed going into the district semi-finals. Below is a summary of each team's records, recent highlights and upcoming contests.

CARRICK
6 - 1 (overall)
4 - 0 (district)
* Possible district seeding: #1 or #2

Next contest: Jan 15th (home dual) vs. Allderdice - TO DETERMINE #1 SEED
Recent highlights: Win over Brashear (48-23) - recording an impressive (6) falls by Matthew O'Connor (113), Armand Jackson (120), Terrance Mair (145), Hakeim McKenzie (195), Jessie Reid (220) and Michael Betz (Hwt). Decision wins recorded by Markus Kratochvil (160) & Keith Davis (182).

ALLDERDICE
9 - 1 (overall)
4 - 0 (district)
* Possible district seeding: #1 or #2

Next contest: Jan 15th @ Carrick dual
Recent highlights: Harry "Bo" Wood Tournament (Indiana, PA) - Isiah Slappy (2nd place @ 120), Will Bechem (2nd place @ 132), Nunu Withrow-Davis (3rd place @ 145) and Nick Brucker (3rd place @ 195). With a number of starters out of the line-up, the Dragons edged out a recent win over Obama (36-30) - recording (2) falls by William Bechem (138) and Nunu Withrow-Davis (152).

PERRY TRADITIONAL ACADEMY
6 - 8 (overall)
2 - 2 (district)
* Possible district seeding: #3 or #4

Next contest: Jan 15th (home dual) vs. Brashear - TO DETERMINE #3 SEED
Recent highlights: Win over Westinghouse (72-4) - recording (4) falls by DaRue Johnson (132), Keron Jones (145), Wesley McCaskill (152) and Rashad Springs (Hwt).

BRASHEAR
2 -2 (overall & district)
* Possible district seeding: #3 or #4

Next contest: Jan 15th @ Perry Traditional Academy duals
Recent highlights: In a loss to a tough Carrick team, the Bulls recorded (3) fall wins by Corey Beven (106), Jordan Oliver (138) and Antwuan Porter (152) & decision wins by Maximis Penn (126) and Dalton Link (132).

WESTINGHOUSE
0 - 4 (overall & district)

Next contest: Jan 15th @ Obama duals
Recent highlights: Harry "Bo" Wood Tournament (Indiana, PA) - Travaun Jackson (2nd place, 170 lbs). Jackson also earned a maj dec during the Bulldogs' recent district match-up vs. Perry TA.

OBAMA ACADEMY
0 - 4 (overall & district)

Next contest: Jan 15th (home dual) vs. Westinghouse
Recent highlights: In a very close match-up, resulting in a 36-30 loss to Allderdice that was ultimately determined by forfeits at the 220 & Hwt contests - the Obama Eagles recorded fall wins by Najuantay Gilmore (170) and Nate Martin (182), a major decision win by Deshon Hill (132) and decision wins by Cameron Allgeier (106), Malik Green (126) and Gregory Stewart (195).

The City League will also participate at the Allegheny County Tournament on Jan 17th - 18th.

Your right all of these last dual have meaning.

Allderdice and Carrick will be going for the #1 and #2 seed.

Brashear and Perry will battle it out for #3 and #4 seeds.

Winless Obama and Westinghouse will fight it out to see who will be the only team without a district win
