Big Heavy ISO college

Aaron Bradley a heavyweight from Nazareth, PA, who just beat Brooks Black at the Dapper Dan, is apparently uncommitted.

Could Cornell have a shot at this guy.

Good question. How are his grades/SATs? The good news/bad news of Ivy recruiting.

Knowing how much we (and everyone else) wanted Black you certainly have my attention.

What year is he?

I believe that all Dapper Dan participants are seniors.

OTOH, wouldn't he be too late even to apply to Cornell?

Bradley = mormon mission?
But, you Cornellians stay out of Lehigh Valley with your recruiting!
Otherwise, aren't there younger Dakes in Ithaca for us to poach? :)

Yes, too late to apply for the coming year. OTOH, he could have applied, and could have been accepted, and we wouldn't know it unless the recruit or his family made a public announcement. Remember, Cornell coaches cannot release names of new recruits until they are enrolled.

FWIW - I heard at Easterns that the next recruiting class will be a good one - perhaps a few guys out there not announced yet?

Why would the recruit (or family) not go public? It's good press for the kid and his future school-- unless he is hoping for a better offer.

Let' s please not pretend that the Cornell admissions office is a bureaucracy so rigid that, if the wrestling coach came to them with an otherwise qualified applicant after the "deadline" for admissions, that the rules wouldn't be bent. I'm sure that every year a handful of exceptions are made to the admissions deadline for all sorts of reasons.

Whether Bradley is or is not interested in Cornell or vice versa is a different question altogether but i don't want to be naive about what would stand in the way.

I am sure that is basically true as athletes are given preference in admissions.

But isn't there also some sliding scale, where an applicant's interest is factor, as is his abilities as a student and his value to a Cornell team. If a kid -- and this is purely hypothetical-- is a very good athlete, but shows very little interest or is a barely acceptable student, that might all go into the mix. If, say, Bo Jackson wanted to attend Cornell, his abilities on the field would weigh heavily in his favor. But if he didn't bother to apply on time and was only a fair student, he might be denied.
