Looks like Bennett has either #6 seed Loder or #11 seed Larson in the semis.

Bosak has a grinder quarters on, starting with Stienhaus. Net loss for the eiwa, this whole situation.

I'm a Lehigh fan (duh) and I think its wrong, horribly wrong. Not sure what else to say.

PS he was legitimately hurt (hip pointer from practice earlier in week), so wasn't "protecting his seed", but still...

Scribe and those above, I agree, this is an incredible precedent that will gut qualifying tournaments. Any doubt - or if you fall behind in a match - default out. Protect your ranking.

Wow. I really hope this is an isolated mistake and coaches come out with direction on this that prevents this being a precedent.

I don't think there is any question of Hamlin defaulting to protect his seed in this case (and don't think you are saying that, either); there wasn't much question that he couldn't continue, and how it would protect seeding was likely not a factor in the decision to pull the plug. But yes, it does set a bad precident. And also, in the name of sportsmanship - Bosak showed up for the qualifier, he faced all comers, and he won, and he placed higher than Hamlin, default or not. Credit should be given for that. I feel badly for Hamlin not being able to continue, but what about Steve? He was robbed of the opportunity to prevail.

I had one of those before, football injury - nasty painful thing! Again, Asa Packer, no doubt in my mind that the injury was real, you could see the pain on Robert's face.

I don't mind the change up to end at 165. Everyone always talks about getting eyeballs, growing the sport all that good stuff. Here's a chance, why not let it build? Plus I always feel bad for upper weights, it definitely starts to empty out. Shouldn't be a problem this time.

1998 Big 10. Seibert of Illinois takes 3 defaults to finish 8th. Randomly drawn brackets were thrown out until the one that guaranteed him 8th with no wins popped up. Conference tournament Host PSU accepted this. Seibert Seeded first nationals, PSU Musser 2nd. Obviously a lot of folks here new to the sport.

The EIWA tournament is merely a qualifier. Good to see some Lehigh folks are finally coming around to this thinking. There've been lots of arguments here over that fact, with Lehigh guys clinging to the importance of the conference.

You'd have to be new to wrestling to not have noticed this.

Should qualifiers have Halls of Fame?

Asked and asnwered.....
EIWA has had one for many years.

And just to clarify, EIWA has been an NCAA qualifier for over 40 years. The rules have been adjusted over the years,,,,, JJH

Bosak would have been better off losing his EIWA finals. The 6th or 11th seed are a hell of a lot better than the 4.
