LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland is ranked 20th in the NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Preseason Top 20 Poll and four individuals – Kyle Delaune, Nate Croley, Tyler Smith and Austin Meyn – are ranked in their respective weight classes, as announced Wednesday by the national office.

The Bulldogs received 25 total points and are one of five Mid-South Conference teams in the Top 20, which includes Lindsey Wilson (6), Campbellsville University (7), Life University (10) and the University of the Cumberlands (t14).

Delaune, a junior from New Orleans, La., ranks third at 174. He placed fourth at last year’s NAIA Championships at 184, finishing the year 23-13 overall. Delaune lost his first match in last season’s national tournament before reeling off five straight victories.

Meyn, a sophomore from New Orleans as well, ranks 10th at 141. He defeated Indiana Tech’s 15th-ranked Robert Humphrey in the NAIA East Region Qualifier to earn a spot in last year’s national tourney and posted a 9-15 overall mark in 2014-15.

Croley, a junior from Pigeon Forge, Tenn., ranks 13th at 157. He, too, used a good showing in last year’s NAIA East Region Qualifier to garner a spot in the national tournament, picking up three wins in Fort Wayne, Ind. Croley ended the year 10-17 overall, with six of those losses to wrestlers ranked in the Top 4 nationally.

Smith, a redshirt senior from Calhoun, Ga., missed most of last season after surviving a house fire at the Baptist Student Union on campus. He is ranked 13th at 285 heading into the 2015-16 campaign. Smith posted a 27-14 mark in 2013-14 and has 54 career victories at CU.

Cumberland opens the season October 31 at the Patriot Open in Williamsburg, Ky.
