OCU checks in at No. 2 in preseason rankings
Three Stars hold No. 1 spot at their weight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University enters the 2015-16 season with its highest ranking ever in NAIA wrestling at No. 2.
The Stars' previous high ranking came at No. 3 on Nov. 15, 2007. OCU boasts the most No. 1-ranked individuals with three – Zach Skates (157 pounds), Ricky McCarty (165) and Derek Siversten (184).
McCarty, a senior from Lawton, Okla., enters the season as the defending 165-pound national champion. Sivertsen, a junior from Moore, Okla., and Skates, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., earned all-American honors last season.
Other ranked Stars are Parker Bohannon, fifth at 133; Eric Ambriz, 14th at 149; Jamie Shawver, 11th at 174; Miguel Tovar, 16th at 197; and Bryson McGowan, 15th at 285.
Four-time defending national champion Grand View (Iowa) earned its 24th straight No. 1 ranking with 113.5 points.
The Stars hold the Black-Blue Ranking Dual at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, then compete in the Oklahoma City Open at 9 a.m. Nov. 1, both at Abe Lemons Arena.
