WILKES-BARRE -- Visiting College of New Jersey broke open a 9-9 tie by winning five straight matches as the Lions posted a 34-12 victory over host King's College Wednesday night in Scandlon Gym.

With the win, the Lions, ranked sixth nationally in NCAA Division III, improved to 2-0 while King's slipped to 1-3

King's opened the match with a decision at 125-pounds when James Wright won by a 12-8 count. TCNJ won the next two bouts via decision and pin to take a 9-3 lead. But the Monarchs tied the score when Owen Watkins rallied in the second period to post a pin in 4:55 to set the score at 9-9.

But from there it was TCNJ, winning the next five bouts with two pins, two major decisions, and technical fall to build a 34-9 lead.

In the streak of wins, third ranked Antonio Marcella posted an 11-3 major decision over King's top wrestler Howard Kilpatrick, while seventh-ranked Nick Herring won by technical fall over Hilton Martin.

Monarch heavyweight Ralph Bernardo would win the final bout of the evening with a 5-2 decision to set the final score.
