After spending two years matside coaching at Seton Hill University, Jeff Breese made a career change. That change has led him to become the new Director of Media Relations for the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Breese, a Claysville, Pa., native, was a Pennsylvania state high school champion at McGuffey and competed on the Division I level at N.C. State, where he earned a degree in Mass Media and Public Relations with a minor in Journalism.

“We’re excited to bring Jeff on board with the NWCA,” said Executive Director Mike Moyer. “He’s an energetic guy with a deep-rooted wrestling background and he’s got a desire to further help promote the sport.”

“He’s been a competitor and a coach, so he knows the ins and outs of wrestling from both sides of the mat and has a great communications and overall media background which makes it a win-win,” added Moyer.

Breese will oversee the day to day operations of the InterMat site, coordinate coverage of major scholastic and collegiate events and handle NWCA press releases, events and the web site.

“I’m excited to get started and pick up where the previous webmaster left off,” said Breese. “I’m ready to take on any challenges and am awaiting the opportunities that will come down the road.”

“I’m happy I can be a part of the sport and help continue the promotion and growth of wrestling,” said Breese. “I really want to thank the NWCA for this opportunity.”

The Board of Directors is also pleased with the addition of Breese to the association.

“Jeff’s a great hire for our organization,” said NWCA President Ron Mirikitani. “He brings a respected name and a youthful vigor. We’re ready for him to jump in with both feet and continue helping promote InterMat, the NWCA, our coaching initiatives, and our goals as an organization.”

As a wrestler, Breese was two-time PIAA state champion in 1999 and 2001 at McGuffey and finished with a 104-7 record. He was a three-year letterman at N.C. State for coaches Bob Guzzo and Carter Jordan.

Breese worked for The Technician, the N.C. State newspaper and spent time working within the Sports Information Department in Raleigh. He’s also spent time at the Pittsburgh Sports Report.

Breese, 24, is married and will relocate to Lancaster County in the coming weeks.

“It’s an exciting time for the NWCA,” said Moyer. “Jeff is coming in a the right time for us and we’re looking for him to hit the ground running with InterMat and our core initiatives at the NWCA.”
