Two Saints Wrestlers Regionally Ranked in Preseason Coaches’ Poll
NEWBERRY, S.C. -- Two members of the Limestone College wrestling team have earned their way into the Super Region II preseason coaches' poll as released by D2Wrestle.com on October 29.

Ross Benzel and Justin Tribble both garnered the honors with Benzel picking up a sixth place ranking in the 141 lb weight class while Tribble sits in the fifth spot at 197. The Saints were also ranked together as a team in the latest poll, sliding into an 11th place ranking within Super Region II.

Benzel, who has historically competed in the 133 lb weight class, has moved up to 141 following an outstanding season just one year ago. Benzel made a run into the Super Region II Tournament back in February; but, with a tough road ahead of him fell in his first two matchups and was knocked out earlier than predicted.

Benzel will look to start off the year strong with the new formation of the ECAC Division II Wrestling League. Ross went 8-2 against conference opponents during regular season dual and open events last season and hopes to capitalize on a new opportunity that comes with entering the 141 lb division.

Tribble will continue his tradition of wrestling in the 197 lb weight class, in which he has had great success in over the past few seasons. At last year's Super Region II Tournament, he was one of only two Saints to make it past the first day of competition and have a shot at qualifying for the NCAA National Tournament.

He was met with an ill-fated finish, however, after avenging a loss to King's Eldon Valery, Tribble ran into a brick wall at the hands Brandon O'Neill of Ashland University. A last minute reversal by O'Neill sealed up the victory for him and dropped Tribble out of the running for a shot at Nationals.

The Limestone College wrestling team kicks off their season this weekend as the Saints travel to Charleston, S.C. for the Citadel Open on November 1. First match is set for 9:00 a.m.
