Former ESU NCAA AA Chet Dalgewicz Honored

EAST STROUDSBURG - Chet Dalgewicz '67, a 1988 inductee to the East Stroudsburg University Athletic Hall of Fame, received the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame last weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Dalgewicz was a two-time PSAC champion in 1966 and 1967 and an NCAA Division I All-America as a junior, placing fifth at 160 pounds. He is one of five multiple-time PSAC champions in program history.

Dalgewicz had a 31-1-3 dual record (.929 winning percentage) in four years for the Warriors, including a perfect 13-0 record during the 1966-67 season.

He was nominated for the award by the New Jersey Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He had a long career as a collegiate wrestling official, was an assistant coach for 22 years at Princeton, served as associate Athletic Director at Rider for 15 years and was also head golf coach at Rider for 12 years.

Dalgewicz was secretary of the National Wrestling Coaches Association and later was the wrestling chair of the Colonial Athletic Association.
