Morgantown, West Virginia – Campbell wrestling fell in all three duals at the Mountaineer Quads on Sunday, Nov. 8. The team finished 14-26 against No. 21/23 West Virginia, 15-21 against Drexel and 6-29 against Arizona State at the quad meet. Nathan Kraisser went a perfect 3-0 against his opponents while Tyler Walker and Paul Duggan both went 2-1 in their bouts.

Campbell faced Arizona State to start off the daylong event. Beginning with the 125 weight class Tyler Walker squared up against Ares Carpio and earned the first points of the bout with a takedown. The two grapplers were tied 4-4 at the end of the first period, but Walker kicked it into gear and beat out Carpio in a 16-11 decision to earn the first team points for the Camels. No. 19 Nathan Kraisser went up against Dalton Brady in the 133 lbs bout. Kraisser and Brady were close throughout the match, but the Camel came out on top with a 5-4 decision. ASU took control of the dual after the first two bouts winning out the remaining eight weight classes with five decisions, two major decisions and a fall and a final score of 29-6.

The Camels faced the Mountaineers in their second dual of the day. Kraisser, Quentin Perez, Paul Duggan and Ville Heino all picked up wins in their weight classes against the No. 21/23 West Virginia team. Kraisser faced Cory Stainbrook at 133 lbs and defeated the Mountaineer in a major decision (15-6) for four team points to tie the score at four. Perez earned the second team win as he toppled Jake S. Smith also by a major decision (14-3) in the 149 weight class. Duggan won the 165 weight class by a 5-2 decision over Timothy Wheeling to put the team score 15-11 in favor of WVU. Heino picked up the last win for the Orange and Black as he took down Jakob Scheffel in a 3-1 decision at 184 pounds. He Camels fought hard against the Mountaineers, but the home team took the dual 26-14 with three major decisions, a fall, tech fall and decision contributing to their team score.

Drexel was the last team Campbell would face while at the Mountaineer Duals. Four Camels earned individual wins over the Dragons including Tyler Walker, Kraisser, Duggan and Jere Heino. Walker picked up his second win of the day as he recorded an 11-2 major decision over Zachary Fuentes in the 125 weight class. Kraisser took on Franco Ferraina in the 133-pound bout. He earned five team points as he beat Ferraina in a 24-3 tech fall putting the team score 9-0 in favor of the Camels. Drexel's grapplers earned three consecutive decisions in the 141, 149, and 157 weight classes heading into the 165 bout with the score tied at nine. Duggan took to the mat for his third bout of the day as he faced Austin Rose. Duggan earned his second win of the day as he defeated Rose in a 5-2 decision to give the Camels the 12-9 lead. The Dragons went on another run winning the 174, 184, and 197 weight classes with three major decisions to jump out to a 21-12 lead. With the heavyweight bout remaining Jere Heino squared up against Alexander Foley to close the day. Needing the win Heino went out and earned an 8-2 decision for three team points, but the Camels fell just short finishing with 15 points to Drexel's 21.

The Camels return to the mat on Saturday, Nov. 14, as they host American University at Carter Gym. The match will be the second of six home duals for Campbell and is slated to start at 12 noon.
