BOISE, Idaho - The upset-minded Boise State wrestling team (3-8, 1-5 Pac-12) fought its way to a five-point lead over Pac-12 foe Oregon State, but two late Beaver wins turned the tide as the Broncos fell 18-16 at Taco Bell Arena, Friday.

Boise State strung together four-consecutive wins at 157, 165, 174 and 184 pounds to turn an eight-point deficit into a five point lead.

No. 14 George Ivanov (157) started the run with a 9-5 decision over No. 17 RJ Pena. Ivanov trailed by two (2-4) with 1:50 remaining in the third period, but a takedown and three-point near fall in the last 30 seconds clinched the win and jolted the over 800 Bronco supporters in attendance. The junior transfer has faced Pena four times this season and owns a 3-1 record against him.

Michael Cuthbertson (165) followed with a 4-2 decision over Joe Latham to bring the Broncos within two points, feeding the excitement for 174-pound Scott Bacon's match against Cody Weishoff.

Bacon (174) led by only a point heading into the final period, but took advantage of Weishoff's fatigue and controlled the final two minutes effortlessly. The freshman traded two-point takedowns for one point escapes which combined with Oregon State stalling penalties to win by major decision, 14-6. Ten of Bacon's 14 points came in the final period.

No. 9 Jake Swartz (184) lasted through two scoreless periods before he made his attacks against Ty Vinson. The sophomore moved to 11-2 on the season with his 4-0 victory and has now held his opponent scoreless for three-consecutive bouts.

Up 16-11 with two matches left, the Boise State still had to face No. 17 Taylor Meeks at 197 pounds followed by fifth-ranked Clayton Jack at the heavyweight spot. Meeks emerged battled to a 6-0 win over Brent Chirswell, snapping a three-match winning streak while Jack was too much for Felix, winning 15-5.

Shawn Jones scored the initial points for Boise State by a 4-2 decision against James Roberts. Jones used some late-bout heroics to earn the win, getting a takedown with four seconds remaining.

The Broncos will have a break before they head to the National Duals Regional in Stillwater, Okla., Feb. 12.
