First Semester Grades

Postby LU in NJ » Wed Dec 13, 2017 3:33 pm

>>>>>>>>>>>Grades according to Professor Long in the Tooth ( factoring in individual competition and a curve for frosh)

Schedule: A, seven quality duals and generally high level matches at JCC. No cupcakes (but Penn is struggling)

Home Schedule: A+, hard to beat two top ranked B1G teams with plenty of returning NCAA champs and AAs in a raucous Grace Hall and an excellent, sold out, PPL venue.

Team Performance: A, 6-1 dual record and quality work at JCC. Achieved a consensus top 5 dual team ranking.

Bench Strength: B, 18 different wrestlers with varsity matches, some big wins and a few absolute duds.

Weight Class Performance:

A , 125, 133, 141,174,197, 285. ( no explanation necessary)
B, 157 ( 7-3 record with big win vs Mich )
C, 149, 165 (inconsistency from veterans)
Incomplete, 174 ( results impaired by injury)

Special credit: Freshman group ( Karam, Jake, Weiler, Wood) posting strong results vs a plethora of highly ranked opponents.

Word of caution---- Professor Long Tooth weights the first semester grades only 10-15 % toward the overall grade for the year. Final exam in March is the big kahuna.

It's a great time to be a Lehigh wrestling fan.

No 184?

**** I think 174 was mentioned 2X with the bottom comment referring to Ryan's injury shortened match.

>>>>>>Professor Long Tooth obviously needs all the help he can get.

The incomplete grade is for 184, where young Mr Preisch suffered a leg injury. Thankfully he is not a horse (shaggy mane non withstanding) and he and will not be permanently put out of his misery.

And because the final exam in March comprises 60% of the final grade in Prof Long Tooth's class, Mr. Preisch has ample opportunity to overcome his current incomplete 1st semester grade.

Prof Long Tooth is a forgiving sort where class attendance is concerned, so long as the student fully masters the subject matter at final exam time.

It's a great time to be a Lehigh wrestling fan.

You are a tough grader Prof. Longtooth.

I'd give Preisch an A just as you did with Parker who missed both matches on Sunday.....or give Parker an incomplete...especially as he did not wrestle Desanto which was on the syllabus.

I'd give 157 a "C". Not much positive except for the one bout winning throw against Pantaleo. Got demolished by a #23 in Princeton, barely eked out a win against a #150ish against Drexel.

>>>>>>>>Prof Long Tooth was grading students

If he was to be so presumptuous as to grade faculty colleagues, they would collectively and individually all receive an A.

Mr Brown earned a B based largely on a 7-3 record vs solid opponents. A 70% winning percentage, incl a major upset win over a top ranked guy, is 'Good' in Prof Long Tooth's realm.

Young Mr Preisch received an incomplete in part because he was unable to complete one of his assignments thru no fault of his own and his understudy was also unable to adequately complete his next assignment.

Mr Parker deserves an A in Prof Long Tooth's grading system because the work he completed was so exemplary it earned him the 2nd highest overall rating in his class.

Prof Long Tooth prizes outstanding work above all else and has minimal concern for occasional missed classes provided a note from Dr Foley is procured.

Prof Long Tooth is telling all his colleague that 'It's a great time to be a Lehigh wrestling fan'.

Prof Long Tooth is overdue for a checkup.

Prof Long Tooth in the library, with the lead pipe he used to beat his name to death, even more than Mountain Hawk ever has? :D

Ryan Preisch doesn't select opponents; Ryan Preisch finished the same # of bouts Scotty did and was winning 1 of the 2 he didn't finish. So I agree Ryan Preisch is entitled to his "A"

**** I never thought I would see positive remarks about the coaching staff from you. Good to hear. I definitely agree. Now on to the 2nd half of the season.

>>>>>>>>>>Prof Long Tooth believe it is his duty to remind those speaking on behalf of Mr Preisch that Lehigh University has maintained high standards with respect to grades thru the years, unlike many Ivy covered institutions where high grades flow like water into a gorge.

He also suggests that the supplicants refer to the dual meet points scored this semester by Mr Parker, which exceed those of any other classmate. Points earned for the team is a key criteria in the grading system.

Mr Preisch will hopefully have ample opportunity to attain an A for the full year's coursework.

Let us all, at a minimum, agree that 'It's a great time to be a Lehigh wrestling fan.'
