Edinboro and Michigan

Postby Mountain Hawk » Mon Nov 13, 2017 10:51 am

Edinboro
125 Cruz over Russell...always close
133 Parker over Myers...also fairly close
141 Karam over Hagan
149 Schuyler over Pappas?
157 Brown over ?....bonus points
165 Matthews if he wrestles, otherwise LU bonus
174 Kutler over Schoffstall...think bonus
184 Preisch over Reynolds....bonus
197 Jakobsen over Paddock
285 bout of the night, Wood over B Miller

LU 30-3

Michigan
125 Cruz by FFT or they pull the redshirt on Drew Mattin and Darian has his hands full
133 #3 Micic....another tough out for Parker
141 Karam v Profaci...stern test here as well
149 Schuyler v M Amine...we'll need this one to have any chance
157 Brown v top ten Pantaleo...another we'll need
165 whomever for LU faces #3 Massa...need to keep it close
174 Kutler v M Amine...like Kutler's chances here
184 Preisch v Abounader...yet another top 7 Michigan entry
197 Jakobsen v Beazley...v tall order for the freshman
285 Wood v Coon...Mich has another elite heavy in the wings...Wood can measure himself against the best here

Lehigh path to victory starts with a FFT at 125. Then need to find 4 wins. Considering MH sees no less than 6 bouts that could be very tight away from 125, its possible to walk away with a W, but these guys are #4 in the nation for a reason. One thing for sure, we will all have a better idea of how the 165-197 situation looks in terms of size vs competition like this. Gonna be a brawl. MH refuses to render a final score prediction

Will Amine wrestle at 149 for Michigan? He injured defaulted over the weekend.

Wasn’t his INJ DEF due to concussion? Might depend on UM’s protocol.

The Michigan match will be a tough one for us. This is the one where we should pack Grace Hall and add a crowd factor to the mix. If we can win some early matches and keep it close, a loud Grace crowd might gain us some slight advantage. Plus, I love it when Grace Hall gets loud! There's no better feeling in college wrestling.
So, if at all possible be there. Computer coverage is fine for those far away. But it's not like being there. Go Lehigh!!!

Mich is heavily favored, but it's a home dual and they may not have their full lineup. Important for the big four (Cruz/Parker(aka "hammer"/Kutler/Preisch) to lead the way.

Weiler impressed me at Troy (two wins and held his own vs highly ranked VT) so I'd like to see him in at least one of the duals.

IBrown's also looked good so far----might be ready for a breakout year.

Two huge (pun intended) tests for Wood this weekend------especially Coon.

2017 NCAA champ Darian Cruz. It's a great time to be a Lehigh wrestling fan.

Scots not yet Flying but clearly on way up from #24/25; not at all sure how I'd publicly predict a romp; a break if Matthews still out.

125/133- close bouts can often go either way; career combo 67-20; Russell's been ranked as hi as 6th
149- Pappas, fr, 5-1; NY 1,2,2; likely favorite
157- Shomers, so; 6-1 this yr; 18-5 last yr; not sure I’d be calling for bonus pts; would settle for W
165- Hoehn, so, 6-1; 19-9 two-yr; MA 1,2,2,2 (199-16); we're not yet lock solid at 165
285- Miller, jr, 4-0 (65-22); owns W’s vs. Wessell & Vollaro; perhaps slight favorite on experience

One thing for sure: Edinboro won't be looking past us to Michigan -- their next event is Las Vegas

Although I will be at home Friday night, I believe that Lehigh will win 7 and Edinboro 2 with heavyweight being a tossup.

Miller always wins tossups.

As opposed to Illini HWT John Lochart who always won the toss. (like maybe 7 OT wins in 2 years)

I just went to Lehigh's article about the duals and clicked on the Video link -- brought me to a menu of upcoming broadcasts that shows both duals. For Bucknell I found that the video would not start in Internet Explorer; I had to use Firefox.

Of course, the Michigan dual is shown for 2:00 PM. I hope the folks at PLN get the word that the dual begins at 1.

Burkett? Price?

Meanwhile over in Ithaca Chaz Tucker by pin, then Yianni easily handles the #12 ranked Josh Alber .... (they started at 133)
