Post-NCAA Trivia: Becahi Nat. Champs & AAs

Postby LuLc » Sun Mar 19, 2017 6:17 pm

Darian Cruz, a Bethlehem Catholic grad, won NCAAs this year at 125, and took seventh in 2014 also at 125.

Brother Randy, a fellow Beca grad, took 8th at 141 in 2016.

Who were other Becahi Grads that were National Champs, or All-Americans?? Weight class and year?

Now that the wrestling is over,

Let the games begin. . .

And it's a long off-season. Googlers can play in October :)

I think most recent would be Zeke Moisey in 2015 at 125

Moisey had an amazing run to the finals in 2015. Beating Gilman in the semis , and falling to NATO in the finals.

C'mon Man! All the Browns (Charlie, Mike, Pat & Bernie) wrestled for Lehigh (from South Side). Mike was 4-time AA.
Not sure about others, Bernie maybe AA?

Mike the only Brown to AA.

Nope on Peoples, no AAs.

Bold no AAs also. Matter of fact no EIWA championship for him either.

I believe Darian and Randy have an Allentown address making Darian the first finalist since Scott Schleicher for Navy in 80s and first NCAA Champion since Mark Lieberman. ACC coach is a Lehigh grad. Don't know what Randy Cruz life's ambition is but if he taught riding in LV or an assistant coach at high school level, there might be more AA from Bethlehem, Easton, Allentown, Nazareth and Northampton. Saucon Valley has once again become very good on AA level. Mike Labriola may be next training under Snyder, Burroughs and Green out in Nebraska.

This has nothing to do with your point but Randy is Bethlehem - Darian is Allentown.

And all of Allentown is in Lehigh County. Most of Bethlehem is in Northampton County, but some is in Lehigh County. Which sort of makes Bethlehem the largest City in the state. Which is all totally irrelevant and ridiculous.

Maybe a better trivia question re Bethlehem Catholic would be, when they wrestled in Grace Hall in a prelim bout to a Lehigh dual, Beca got hammered. Team they wrestled eventually had somewhat successful brothers. Remember team and bros???. Score would be a bonus.lol
